Youth theatres

Our projects provide an education in drama outside school for teenagers from low-income backgrounds.

NYAT has two main youth theatre projects:

We also ran Ely Youth Theatre in Cambridgeshire for 7 years until 2020.

Local to Port Talbot or Hull and want to join?

Attended a youth theatre project already?

We intend to set up more youth theatres like this in other UK areas where there is little arts provision.

We unearth emerging talent, make bold and exciting work, give a chance for young people’s voices to be heard, and offer a practical, affordable and realistic springboard to further education, including a potential theatrical career.

We go on theatre trips, run masterclasses with industry professionals and put on productions.

“Every single workshop helps me grow – and grow as a human, not just as a performer. It is like a family. This has been life changing.”

Many members have already gone on to study acting at drama school and university – an opportunity they credit directly to the technical skills and confidence they gained with NYAT.

“Joining the NYAT youth theatre has by far been one of the best experiences of my life. I would never be off to study acting at university without their help. Anything is possible when you join this company.”

Our youth theatre projects depend on the generosity of our supporters. Please help us continue to provide these opportunities by pledging your support today.
