“I never knew music could have this much power”

Danilo now studies cello at Eton with a scholarship, after an NYAT bursary saved his music lessons from drastic budget cuts.
Since severe cuts to the arts budget at his school, everyone, including Danilo, lost their instruments and music lessons.
“I was devastated. I had spent so much time playing the cello, only to be told that I wouldn’t be able to any more. My family would never have been able to finance an instrument along with music lessons.”
Through a referral from Orchestras for All, Danilo, 16, was awarded an NYAT bursary to help pay for his lessons, instrument hire and ensemble membership.
Thanks to you, Danilo can continue with his lessons and keep playing with his local orchestra.
“I am so glad that I will be able to pursue what I love without having to worry about the burden I impose on my parents. I can now finally divert all my attention into the creation of music – the thing I love most. Thank you so much for this!”
Incredibly, Danilo only started to learn the cello in 2012, and in four years gained a distinction in Grade 8 and won the Enfield Young Musicians’ Concerto audition in 2017. He now has a full music scholarship to study the cello at Eton College.
“I feel like I am standing on the threshold of an extraordinary world and I want to soak up every opportunity I can. Music not only develops me as a musician but also as a person.”
