Creative industry mentoring: Practical Pillars
Do you need help navigating the first steps of your acting career? Recent graduate or in third year of drama school? Apply for a mentor with NYAT!
‘Practical Pillars’ is our new mentoring project to support talented young people like you, equip you for your creative industry journey and help you find the opportunities available.
We offer all of this for FREE:
- Career development masterclasses / workshops cover topics like castings, agents, budgeting, contracts, managing professional relationships, networking, self employed life, first day on set, your goals for the future, building resilience and more
- Regular 1-on-1 mentoring sessions link each mentee with a mentor for a consistent period to learn many acting, dancing, music, technical and other skills to stand out in the industry
- Social events for young mentees to connect with other like-minded people to support and learn from each other

⭐️ MEET THE MENTORS ⭐️
We’re delighted to introduce the mentors for our ‘Industry Pillars’ mentoring scheme.
- Afolabi is an actor, NYAT trustee and ex recipient hoping to bring his insights to help steer the scheme. Since graduating from Bristol Old Vic theatre school he has featured in various screen roles for BBC, Netflix HBO; aswell as working with the RSC and various voice projects @_afolabialli
- Bally Gill is an actor and Rose Bruford graduate. He won the Ian Charleson award in 2018 for his performance as Romeo in the RSC production of Romeo and Juliet. He has appeared in BBC & ITV dramas @ballysgill
- Emily Stott is an Oxford school of Drama graduate known for The Midwich Cuckoos, Foundation and Little Fish @emstott1
- Raphael Sowole is a stage and screen actor. His debut role was in the critically acclaimed Starred up. He has appeared in Black Mirror & Black Earth Rising @raphael_sowole
- Ray Sesay is also a Bristol Old Vic graduate actor. Ray has extensive experience on stage and has appeared in Endeavour and Doctor Who @raysesay
